Elegant Arms & Hands
In this course, we will explore the various arm patterns and hand articulations we can use to dress up our dance. We will warm-up with exercises to enhance our flexibility and strength in the upper body, and use improvisation prompts to discover new ways to express our dance. There will be an emphasis on stylizations for modern raqs sharqi (belly dance). Open level.

Lyrical Veil Choreography
In this course, we will learn an elegant and emotional choreography with the veil, to the song ‘Sabb Farhety’ (سبب فرحتي) (The Reason for My Joy). Our warm-up will include upper body exercises to open the heart and create space to better express the movements of this dance. A translation of lyrics will be provided. Some veil experience is recommended.

Flamenco Experimental
In this course, we learn a fun choreography to the song ‘La Gitana.’ We will play with rhythm, expression, arm stylizations, hip movements, stepping patterns, and lots of attitude! Lyrics will be provided. It is suggested to wear a skirt, but not required. No flamenco shoes needed, unless you have them and want to wear them. Some experience is recommended.
